A thought, a ritual, a friend?

No. For many of us it’s the same. And you know why? Because you feel like something's wrong with you.

It seems to you that you MUST be ABLE to SOLVE it, so you are ashamed to talk to anyone.

It's like a topic you don't dare to discuss because it's supposed, damn it, to know it. Especially when you have a career like I had at that time (she refers to the freelancer start as a communication consultant) and a recognition that, strangely, made me believe that if I succeeded in media I will succeed everywhere. It's a silly. When you are at the beginning, you need help. I didn’t know that. [...]

I am convinced that I am still judging myself quite harshly, but ... No, I didn’t know that I can call people and say "I need you" or to ask the opinion of my team – now I would do it, because it's unbelievable what comes out when you allow people to contribute.

When a company is willing to publish non-financial information, you can trust it. https://marta-sturzeanu.com/en/dragos-tuta-2/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=dragos-tuta-2 https://marta-sturzeanu.com/en/dragos-tuta-2/#respond Fri, 28 Feb 2020 05:10:33 +0000 http://marta-sturzeanu.com/?p=5151 A sustainability report is proof of transparency. Its main benefit is that it is a tool with which the CEO and other directors work in the medium and long term. Even the annual strategy is shaped by this report.

These kind of reports don’t have a conclusion. They don’t decide whether a company is sustainable or not, but they present information and show the level of transparency. That’s why the EU has pursued this directive - to give the public access to information. Because not the Government should be, from my point of view, the one who checks whether a company has reached a certain sustainability target in a year and presented its results in a report. No. The Government must ensure that transparency has been shown, that all impact indicators have been included in that report, as well as the values of the indicators.

We cannot discuss diversity, for example, until it is specified how many employees you have, how they are divided by salary, gender, age categories, training hours, etc. The sustainability report is the same as the financial one; there is an international extremely clear methodology.

Plant based dyeing is a good exercise for learning patience. https://marta-sturzeanu.com/en/andreea-tron-2/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=andreea-tron-2 https://marta-sturzeanu.com/en/andreea-tron-2/#respond Fri, 31 Jan 2020 05:24:31 +0000 http://marta-sturzeanu.com/?p=5100 I’m still at the beginning. The 10th start (she laughs). First of all, I think it would have been a great move to work and learn in a design studio before launching this business. Maybe my path would have been smoother if I knew certain things as: how to reach customers, how to apply some principles to some products or how to find suppliers. For example, it took me a year to find a supplier of natural materials produced in Romania. But that's it, we make decisions and we have to deal with them and their consequences.

I started out with the thought that I would make products and interior design. That's how I connected the materials with architecture. It was a bridge. Then, I realized it wasn't what I wanted. My desire was to make interior decorations using my favourite materials, but at the same time thinking sustainable. Well, that was hard to believe. Even though I knew my perspective was valuable, it wasn't necessarily perceived as something professional from outside.

It was an entire road, because initially I started with production, then I worked on interior decoration projects and created various objects through collaboration.

Being a makeup artist is a profession you choose. https://marta-sturzeanu.com/en/diana-ionescu-2/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=diana-ionescu-2 https://marta-sturzeanu.com/en/diana-ionescu-2/#respond Fri, 24 Jan 2020 05:54:55 +0000 http://marta-sturzeanu.com/?p=5055 Now Diana is specialized in face art and physiognomy modelling. Since 2012 she has opened a makeup school and her own studio. She says in a lower voice: "When I opened the studio I had the feeling of finally getting home."
She there tests her ideas, she experiments, she creates, she keeps her classes and she talks about the job of makeup artist. What motivates me is that I want this job to be understood differently. In general, people think that the makeup artists do makeup because that's how life turned out to be and not because it is a job you choose consciously, a job you practice and invest in. Maybe from the outside it seems easy, in the sense that you don’t need a great talent, but a proper situation: to want it very much and so... it happens. Because training doesn't last at all as long as any other university ... What I try to teach girls at school is that being a makeup artist is a profession you choose. One you dedicate yourself to. There’s a colossal difference between those who practice it mechanically and those who passionately are about makeup and beauty. Following a recipe is simple, but I think it really matters to bring value through creativity to any field."

It’s no habit at all. https://marta-sturzeanu.com/en/catalin-stefanescu-2/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=catalin-stefanescu-2 https://marta-sturzeanu.com/en/catalin-stefanescu-2/#respond Fri, 13 Dec 2019 06:39:41 +0000 http://marta-sturzeanu.com/?p=5019 Cătălin teaches two courses in the Theater and Film Faculty of Babeş Bolay University in Cluj. One is on storytelling and the other on visual narration. Three years ago he accepted a serious invitation from the institution and he continues due to his raising attachment towards citizens. Probably, more links him to this university because in 1995 he graduated its Faculty of Letters. There he does things with passion, he does his lessons, he doesn’t check the students presence because the participation isn’t mandatory, however, he warns them that "what we do is very alive". Often he cannot give them something to read or to do at home because his obsession is "to say with their own mouth some terms and conclusions, and because they said them, they will not forget them. I dont insist on taking notes endlessly, but we write a lot together and we do very lively things, so, they should theoretically and practically memorize it."  Cătălin details: “If my students write better, express better, or if they have cleaner ideas, I’m satisfied."

Passionate about theater, film, music, Cătălin seems to use these artistic lens in his own way of seeing the world. In the classroom is a show. At any kind of school. The meeting between 2 people is a performance and as long as there are 1 and 2, and as long as there is an audience attending, it is a show.”, he says about the interaction with students. It involves great responsibility, but you also play a role because "you are someone who must be convincing, who must captivate."

You cannot accelerate growing up. https://marta-sturzeanu.com/en/aliz-kosza-2/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=aliz-kosza-2 https://marta-sturzeanu.com/en/aliz-kosza-2/#respond Fri, 25 Oct 2019 04:00:19 +0000 http://marta-sturzeanu.com/?p=4949 Problems arise because people starts wrong a business or they skip stages. This jump is interesting, because you meet it not only in business, but also in personal life. You cannot skip over childhood or adolescence. You cannot. And even if you could, it wouldn't be ok. You want to become an adult ahead of time and lose sight of the stages of growing. In order to reach maturity, you have to go through being a baby, living a childhood and an adolescence, each with its own specific behaviors, and only then you start to become aware and you start to do things. But you have to go through the experience of each period of life.

Entrepreneurs or managers have ideas after ideas, apply them, lose the focus and the reins, and eventually give up and contact a person like me. "Help me!", they say, as calling a doctor, and they ask: "What did I do wrong?". "You didn't do anything wrong, but you skipped steps", I tell them.

It's a tendency now to mature as early as possible. The same is in business. As if you put on fertilizer and force the growth of vegetables hoping that people will buy your product endlessly. And they only do it until they find it tasteless and unworthy. You cannot accelerate maturation.

People don’t trust merchants. https://marta-sturzeanu.com/en/antonio-eram-2/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=antonio-eram-2 https://marta-sturzeanu.com/en/antonio-eram-2/#respond Tue, 03 Sep 2019 02:01:33 +0000 http://marta-sturzeanu.com/?p=4922 What do the payment methods say about people? Well, first of all, the payment market is currently under potential. Only 15% of the ecommerce transactions in Romania are done by electronic means, the rest are cash. And this is not because the world doesn’t trust payment methods, but because the people doesn’t trust merchants.

Ecommerce is a relationship based on trust. Only after you break down the wall of mistrust you succeed.

I say with every occasion that paying with the card, beside the obvious advantages, gives you an extraordinary power: you can withdraw the order at any time you want. If you pay with anything else, it's harder.

People say that they don't trust what the merchant will deliver ... card payment means I give him the money in advance only to get "something". It's the opposite of traditional trade, when you first put your hand on the product and then give the money.

I don’t want to live this, and then I have to sacrifice the people close to me. https://marta-sturzeanu.com/en/mihai-smarandache-2/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=mihai-smarandache-2 https://marta-sturzeanu.com/en/mihai-smarandache-2/#respond Mon, 15 Jul 2019 05:05:20 +0000 http://marta-sturzeanu.com/?p=4891 My life in the theater was somehow conditioned by others, if they needed me, they'd call for me and I'd be there. In a way I was guided by the opinions of others. For a long time, I didn’t do this job for me, in the meaning that I, Mihai, I wanted to express this or that feeling on stage.

Now, I act in the same way, instinctively, but little by little I think I have gained confidence. Working a lot in the theater, you learn and people can appreciate that you have an opinion about something. When I was younger I was afraid of statements, because I wouldn’t have been able to justify any of my choices.

"Why so and not otherwise?"

Back then my only answer would have beenr: "Sure, yes, it can be any number of ways."

Today, I would reply, because being "old" (at 37 years old, you don’t have any more 15) gives me a certain degree of impertinence, "Because this is how I want it things to be."

People with a vision succeed only because other people believe in them. https://marta-sturzeanu.com/en/adina-popescu-2/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=adina-popescu-2 https://marta-sturzeanu.com/en/adina-popescu-2/#respond Sun, 07 Jul 2019 06:02:52 +0000 http://marta-sturzeanu.com/?p=4869 But over time she wanted to reach more people, have an impact and the art world felt to small to do so.

Today she is the founder of the ÆRTH.LIVE. - a platform for environmental and climate- action, visualised on a virtual model of our planet  - on mobile and in XR. (VR & Augmented Reality = EXtended Reality)

Adina fights for the global good and wants to give people the tools to protect their own environment. Her mind-set has changed since her time as an artist. She feels that if she isn’t doing something with an impact, she is wasting time considering the current state of the world and of our planet. “When you see how things could be better, it be a shame not to try.”, Adina told me.

At the end of the day she is a philosopher. She looks at things from a meta- level, “because otherwise it is hard to have an overview over complex issues like our climate crises for instance.” Sometimes she is definitely too much for some people. “Adina, what you want is too complicated to solve.” they say.  “Most people look at parts of the system in isolation. Some are machine-learning specialists, some are VR specialists and some are specialists for Blockchain. I am not inventing the wheel here. To me they are all tools in a toolbox, needed to create the platform of the future. To me these are not separate fields, but are all moving parts of a system.”

It's a patience exercise and at the same time it's absolutely fantastic because you see things, but you never record them. If you have flowers in the vase, you will never stay 10 hours tied to watch them. You admire them, take them picture and put them on Instagram, and after they dry, you throw them away.

In my case, when I have been staying for 10 hours today, 10 tomorrow, looking at them and seeing how they move, how they turn around the light, how the leaf protects the bud or how it bloom. Some foreign mechanisms in all their splendor. I'm watching them until they get dry and I don’t want to throw them away, I just don’t have enough force to do that after seeing their own life.

After you spend your life with an immediate goal - do something to get something fast, the observation and recording process, which has no immediate purpose, connects you to another truth, reality or level of existence, as we know it. With or without you, it's there.

There is no development without communication. https://marta-sturzeanu.com/en/teodor-frolu-2/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=teodor-frolu-2 https://marta-sturzeanu.com/en/teodor-frolu-2/#respond Sat, 01 Jun 2019 01:04:22 +0000 http://marta-sturzeanu.com/?p=4793 The architecture has helped me in many areas unrelated to "building" because working on a project implies a need for negotiation between several specialties and more interests. In fact, a good project takes into account numerous things: customer demand, technical or structural conditioning, the neighbor area. And a valuable project is a round one, an integrated one. If it's really good, you cannot change it without changing everything. It's a whole.

The same is valid in communication. A strategy is a mix of tools and negotiation of interests that function as a mechanism leading to "dialogue". This is the difference between a good strategy and the mimetic implementation of a list of activities that produce only noise.

The truth is that after 10 years of working in communication I have begun to understand more of the public role in this job.

Every time I come to the conclusion: it’s worth it. https://marta-sturzeanu.com/en/ruxandra-micsunescu-2/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=ruxandra-micsunescu-2 https://marta-sturzeanu.com/en/ruxandra-micsunescu-2/#respond Sat, 25 May 2019 12:28:10 +0000 http://marta-sturzeanu.com/?p=4767 The discrepancy doesn’t involve only the press, but also the reader. Quality content, like an article about the history of a brand, is searched by a very small number of readers. The vast majority doesn’t want to find such information, to read about the values behind a brand. Instead, they always want to find out about luxury products worn by local celebrities.

The same thing happens in the online PR, where we have a strong atypical market when we speak of influencers or brand ambassadors, and the industry is run by talent management agencies and therefore fees and commissions. In the end, it must be treated as it is, and although it is different, at the end of the day the communication tools remains the same. You have to explain to your customers that "it is what it is" and that we need to adapt our expectations.

You adapt or you do like me when after a serious confrontation with what a company's organization and internal culture means, I decided to start my own agency and apply everything I learned and seen in other countries.
